Thanks Hog. As a tool room machinist from a previous life I appreciate the tutorial.

Thanks guys! Setting up is the most tedious part of the job but once that's done, it's standard machine work. I'm waiting for a new recoil lug to finish it. When I put the factory one on the surface grinder, it was out of flat by over .003 & would have had to grind too much off to make it work. I may have to grind the new one to get the flutes to line up with the centerline of the receiver before I finish the chamber. I'll post some finished product pics when I get it done. Hog

Your talent, skill and equipment have me positively green with envy! And, don't even think about blowing it off as "standard machine" work. I know enough to understand that you can't get good results after setting up poorly. However, there are plenty of opportunities to ruin it once the machining begins, as well! More pic's, please!!!

Looks great Hog ! Thanks for taking the time to document your progress and post those pics. It must be very satisfying to do your own work. I envy you and Bob and others. Be sure to let us know how it shoots. Again, great job !

.223 build continues. With the purchase of a new pinned type recoil lug, it was necessary to drill the end of the receiver
for the pin. This makes it a no brainer to line up the lug with the centerline of the action. Having said all that, I forgot
to take pics of that operation but later pics will show the lug lined up evenly.
