This is out of sequence. It is the go gauge check operation.

With the Timney 512 and a Bushnell 4200 installed in Burris Signature rings with universal bases, the finished product is ready for the range. Going to shoot some mild loads for break-in using Hodgson CFE 223, CCI 400s, Sierra 63s and LC brass.

Re: .223 Rifle build pics
Thanks for the compliments guys. Much appreciated. Went to the range last evening with the intent of getting started on the barrel break-in but after one shot, had a lot of copper & ran out of daylight. After an extensive cleaning at home, finally got clean/no blue patches. Went back to the range late today. Made up some loads with CFE223, CCI 400s and reprocessed Lake City brass mixed dates, using Sierra 63 gr spire points. Shot one and cleaned and had almost zero blue on the patches. Shot two more, cleaned & same results. Time to go for some 5 shot groups. First group was 25.0 jammed .005, group looked encouraging, second group jumped .005, group opened up a bit. Third group bumped the load to 25.3, jammed .005, looked real good after the first shot which was on a clean barrel. Ran out of daylight but will do some more testing later in the week.

A little late but very nice job and fine looking and shooting rifle.
Did you make the spider for your lathe?
I like how it bolts to the face plate instead of being in a chuck.
Keeps it closer to the head stock which is good.
Also can just remove the whole thing without having to unbolt it, face plates are cheaper than chucks.
