This reminds me of a very simple snack we make.
Being a fisherman, I usually have plenty of calamari squid in the freezer. A strip of this, with a strip of bacon on a toothpick, dipped in salt and peppered flour, then fried in olive oil (or bacon grease :D ) and that's it.
We call it squidly pig

Here is one my wife sprung on me. Did not expect to like it but, boy was I wrong! Bacon wrapped around a large date (date, as in fruit. Funny guy!) then broiled. The bacon works its' usual magic and the sugar in the date gets all carmalized (sp). So, breakfast is bacon and eggs. Lunch is a BLT. Supper starts with surf and turf wrapped in bacon. Ends with bacon wrapped dates. Sounds like a perfect Fathers' Day menu to me!

Now you just need to find a smoky BBQ bacon infused porter or dark ale to wash it all down. Mmmmm

My mom wraps the morning doves in bacon and cooks them on the grill...awsome!

Okay, since it's obvious we all love bacon, and it is getting stupid expensive... Who has a good rub or brine recipe for pork-belly? I want to smoke my own and have an opportunity to get 60 pounds of PB for $90.00 in the raw come September.
